I was awoken at 2:40am on Sunday, and William woke up while they dressed him. We got to the airport by 4 and were checked in, but the security gates don't open until 5, so we hung out in a coffee shop. William was wide awake, though it was very early in the morning. We went through security and got on the plane before we saw Wes and Diana. They had timed it perfectly.
William fell asleep pretty soon into the flight. There was a 9 month old across the isle from us, who was cute. Her mother threw a blanket over her head, and she fell asleep. I watched Ocean's 12, and enjoyed it.
William awoke on landing at Houston. William and I went to Texas for the first time together. There was not enough time to grab a bite before we headed to El Paso. William went with his aunt Di in first class for the trip to El Paso, and he enjoyed the extra space. As we began our "final descent", William hollered for his mother, and we reclaimed him. He sat on my lap as we landed in El Paso. It had just rained, and there was some snafu with me not picking up the stroller in Houston, so we got a loaner.
We drove to a health food store, and then got some diapers, and then hit the road to Deming New Mexico, where we're spending the week at lovely sunshine Wells Ranch, Di and Wes' lovely setup here. It's gorgeous. We have a huge house to ourselves. I went swimming yesterday. There are lovely views of the Florida mountains. Lots of birds and south west aesthetic plants. Many things are in bloom because it's spring.
William enjoys the space, and while there are stairs and possible danger spots, he seems to be enjoying himself. We went to bed early and got up early because we're still on Eastern Standard Time, instead of Mountain Standard Time, which is 2 hours earlier. Poor William bumped his head last night on the tile floor, I felt so irrationally guilty for a while, until I talked myself out of it. He recovers faster than I do. He's enjoying himself.
