Needs by Zane Parks
My two-year-old grandson Sparky holds out his arms. I pick him up and he reaches for a nearby shelf.
"Ah, the desire to be held was a subterfuge," I say.
"Remember Maslow's
hierarchy of needs," my son says. "Maybe he really did want to be held.
Once that desire was satisfied, other possibilities opened up to him."
