Gretchen the horsey

This video is from Xmas eve. Gretchen is the horsey that William and Andrew ride. Megan can be seen briefly in the background, and Zane's legs. Andrew falls off, twice.

Pick ax

We have a lovely Thomas book that is a kind of Where's Waldo book. The boys love it. The pictures have complexity and detail. In one picture, they have to find a pick ax. William says it in the most cute way, "pik ax" both syllables very quick.

They love dinosaurs. They keep asking us to read the books they got for Xmas and the ones they had before Xmas. There's a dinosaur that has a head that looks like a pick ax. William makes the association, which I love, and says it in his cute way. I'm totally in love with those boys.

Diana went out to give me some time to study, which I greatly appreciate. And so I study, work on an essay, and think about them. I hope to go on a week long solitary retreat in Feb. I can't imagine I won't be thinking about them most of the time.

Bromberg parenting quote

Bromberg writes in p6 of Awakening The Dreamer, "The main source of power that parents have over children comes not so much out of what they tell the child to do as from "showing" him who he is." He goes on to talk about how parents disconfirm aspects that they don't like, which creates a kind of trauma that leads to the defense of dissociation.

backlog of videos

I've got a lot of videos to put of, of Sebastian and of the boys around Xmas time. I'm going to load a few a day.

I took Andrew to the gym today. He was a bit gobsmacked by all the kids, and he's used to being there with Paquita.

Diana took a leave of absence, so we've had to let Paquita go. Diana was having difficulty with work, and it's just not worth it. I support her, support her exploring what she wants to do next. I'm not going to go into this any more, but it's a big change in the family and I feel it should be noted.

Chip

Diana explained that "Sebo" means grease, so I won't knickname Tim and Gigi's son that. I decided today when I met him that he's "Chip", because he looks like a chip off the old block. He's precious and I held him for a while today. The boys are very sweet with him, they want to play with him. I remember William wanting to play with Andres, because he really couldn't. He's a good boy.

boys

William has learned that mommy and daddy are married. He asked if he was married to Andrew. No, you can't marry family like that.

William says, "Can I marry Ava?" Ava is a younger girl that has inherited her brother's Thomas The Tank Engine trains.

Diana said, "ask Ava's father."

Diana just told me that he said, "I want to be Camillo's color." When I asked him about it, he said, "I want to be with his brown mother." Not sure what that means.

coloring pages and more for dinosaurs

I found this cool page, called Ivy's Dinosaur Coloring Pages, with coloring pages that print out easy without downloading and a bunch of interesting links about dinosaurs.

long time no blog

William says, "I want to grow up faster." I say, "Oh, no, let it happen naturally. Soon you will be an old geezer like your old man and wish you were young. Life goes so fast."

Andrew says, "I want to go to the pyouseum."

William ran to school Thursday and Friday. He said, "lets run." Of course he's also decided I'm going to carry his backpack now. So I shuffle along with his backpack and my daily reading material, or walk fast to stay close.

Andrew says, "I love you a lot." They're both very affectionate. Andrew list all the people in the family and says he loves them.

Sebo is born

I use a nickname because it's not my place to disclose names. Gigi and Tim's son was born this morning a bit after 4. Congratulations. William and Andres have a new baby boy cousin. Diana arrived home around 7:30 and fell asleep on the couch.

Turns out Flickr costs after 200 photos, but meanwhile blogger allows you to upload photos.

Diana corrects

Diana reports that a past post, where I assert Andres slept 14+ hours was inaccurate. She says Andres woke up for an hour in the middle of the night. I thought it was about 5 minutes. She says William woke up 2x as well. I slept through 99% of it all.

NY Times article on organizing boys

Here's a link about organization and boys.

Back to work for all

I had 9 days off, William and Diana had 11 days off from school. I chose to work Monday and Tuesday. I think I'll take New Years Day off in the future, not that many patients came in--though importantly some did--I feel conflicted about it. Anyway William went to bed early surprisingly. Andrew went to bed at 6 and wasn't awake when we left at 8:20, that's 14+ hours. William got dressed, ate his breakfast, he'd had a bath the night before. He was ready to go, though he didn't want to carry his backpack for the first time. Andrew got a backpack for Xmas, so he can put a backpack on now too--he really admired William's. I asked William what his favorite presents were. He answered vaguely, but probably accurately, "Thomas and Dinosaurs," not a specific present. I feel the weight of my life coming back on my shoulders, the eye tiredness. I didn't get to meditate this morning, which is annoying. I lost it, didn't meditate much over the past 2 weeks, my worst two weeks since I started the joyous practice of meditation. I want to get back into it, and I expect with a routine I will. But the boys are out of whack--I was so surprised they went to bed--they'd been up to 2AM the night before. Anyway, back to normal routines.
